Notes For Parents:

  • Spirit week and the walk-a-thon were a huge success!
  • Please make sure your child is reading for 20 minutes a night and filling out their reading log to track their progress.
  • Look out for students math reviews that will be sent home sometime next week. These reviews will be completed in class but students should look them over and practice any problems that are still tricky for them. This will help them prepare for the test we will be working on next week!

Weekly Highlights:

Math: Students are working hard to perfect their addition and subtraction skills. We have also worked on estimation and solving word problems using addition and subtraction.

Writing: Students are writing a second draft of their stories. The are working to “spice” up their writing by adding sensory details, emotions, dialogue, and concrete words and phrases. Their stories are coming together!

Reading: This week we used our book, Tiger Rising, to dig deeper into the characters in our story. We noticed how authors spotlight important attributes of our characters. We also compared how we are different between home and school, just like our characters are different in different circumstances.

Subtraction Dice Game:

Pj Day

Toy Day

Our class got 10 outstandings for amazing behavior and for working as a team over the last few weeks. We celebrated by bringing in toys to class!

Our Classroom Charter:

Our class brainstormed the ways we want to feel in our classroom. We came up with ways to accomplish these feelings.
