Update!

Notes For Parents:

  • The MSTEP from last year are in your child’s blue folders, please look these over.
  • Mr. Waldie is sending home a communication that highlights Fall Parties. I will be sending out a communication next week about our classroom Fall Party so be on the lookout for that!
  • Please make sure your child is reading for 20 minutes a night and filling out their reading log to track their progress.
  • Students math tests will be coming home next week.
  • If your child is struggling with their multiplication facts make sure they spend some time reviewing these facts!

Weekly Highlights:

Math: We began our second unit in math, multiplication. We looked at creating arrays, using rows and columns to understand multiplication and what it really means.

Writing: Students worked on editing their stories by making sure to include capitalization, punctuation, paragraphs, complete sentences, and making sure their words are spelled accurately. Students published their first stories, they are amazing!

Reading: This week we finished Tiger Rising. We worked on writing summaries of this story, finding the theme in a story, and noticing recurring objects and symbols that the author includes. We spent time on Friday carving symbols from our story into soap. Our main character, Rob, often whittled in the story, so we were able to have a similar experience.
