Weekly Update: 1/22/21

Notes For Parents:

  • Report Cards were sent home today with your child!
  • Please keep encouraging your child to read each day and log their reading.
  • Our class earned 10 more Outstandings! We celebrated by having stuffed animal day!

Weekly Highlights:

Math: This week we worked on addition and multiplication comparison problems. We used comparison bars to organize the information in word problems to solve. We have begun math rotations this week which has been a new fun way to work in math!

Writing: This week we finished writing our first personal essays. We have worked with partners to revise our writing.

Reading: Our book clubs have been a blast! We have learned to look deeply at our text asking questions like: why did the author include this, what connections do I have, what has the character learned? We have also worked on having powerful conversations in our clubs.

This week was MLK Day. We talked about MLK’s legacy as well as empathy and the dreams we have for the world.
