Week 3!

Notes For Parents:

  • Last week I sent home a scholastic catalog that you can check out. No pressure to buy, but feel free to place an order if you would like to grow your home library. Here is the link to order books online. Or class code is: VXMGQ
  • Your child has been sent home with a reading log this week. Students homework will be to read for 30 minutes each day and fill out their log. Please encourage your child to complete this homework and to get into the habit of reading daily!

Weekly Highlights:

Math: This week we worked on adding multi-digit numbers and estimating. We took a quick quiz to check our progress and understanding.

Writing: This week we used story mountains to plan or writing. We then began drafting our personal narrative stories. Students worked to add details and concrete words and phrases to their writing.

Reading: This week we worked on playing a movie in our head as we read our stories. We envisioned scenes from our books and did a quick draw and described what we imagined.

  • Last week I found petoskey stones up north and brought them back for our class. My mom (who is so sad she can’t volunteer this year in the classroom) Zoomed us and read The Legend of the Petokey Stone. We then dipped our rocks in the water to see how they would change. We spent some time researching these rocks and trying to understand how they came to look the way they do!
