Celebrations

Adelyne got our Quote of the week for being a kind friend to others!

My dad was the Mystery Reader this week!

My mom and dad got to stay and read with our first graders during reading time. They loved getting to spend time with the sweet kiddos I get to see everyday!

Our Learning

Reading–  This week we worked on tracking dialogue within our text and practicing keeping track of who is talking. We also worked on ways to understand tricky words in our text.

Writing–  This week we continued to explore persuasive letters. Students were able to pick their own topics to persuade someone about. Students had wonderful ideas like getting a new pet, longer recess time, and going on a vacation.

Math–  Students learned how to add and subtract multiples of ten using a number grid.

Word Study– Students learned that the vowel teams ou and ow both say the sound found in cow or cloud. Then, we learned that the vowel team ow can also say the sound found in know.
